IMAX at the Ribbon

Drew Dickson Architects was appointed by the builder as Documentation Architect for the IMAX Refurbishment project at Darling Harbour. This involved taking the 50% design package from the Design Architect through to construction documentation.

This project boasts one of the largest screens in the world and the latest in IMAX laser projection. The theatre can sit over 330 patrons and includes lobby spaces, concessions, amenities and a VIP Lounge.

This was an exciting but complex project with many factors to resolve. The buildability of the 6-storey high theatre space, paired with fire and acoustic requirements was a proud achievement of our office.

Our scope also included architectural services during the construction of the project, including quality control, responding to site conditions, shop drawing review and materials approval.
